Guys and Dolls

A few weeks ago Steve and I took a road trip to Chicago for a guys and girls weekend. It all came about because Steve & his high school buddies love Dave Matthews Band and he was coming to play at Alpine Valley (WI). Graham's family has a condo in Lake Geneva that's only 20 mins from the concert so they made a weekend out of it. I dropped Steve off at Graham's and then headed down to the Chicago with the ladies. Afterward I realized just how polar opposite our weekends actually were....

They guys were non-stop with activities and adventures of golf, Dave Matthews concert, boating, ladder golf and late nights! I can't begin to do his weekend justice, but here's a few pictures from the GUYS weekend.

Almost all of the guys...
Playing ladder golf before the DMB concert.

And the more subdued, relaxing weekend with the DOLLS...
After dropping Steve off I headed to Naperville to see Amy's new digs/campus. Brian got a job as an RD at North Central College so they recently moved out to the suburbs. The campus is beautiful and Naperville has a ton of cute shops and restaurants. Amy introduced me to Red Mango... frozen yogurt at it's finest. Then we headed into the city to meet up with Mere and Suz. We went to dinner at a charming little Italian Restaurant in Lincoln Park or maybe it was Bucktown (??).
Saturday we had a leisure morning, went to get pedicures, shopped and checked out this amazing Whole Foods. It's more of a department store/mall than a grocery store. They have a cafe, pub, several mini restaurants with different cuisines and every imaginable grocery item you would every want to cook with. We seriously spent a couple hours there! Then it was off to Adrienne's for a little siesta and to watch Mean Girls. Saturday night we had a picnic in Millenium Park with a free concert. With our nifty mini-picnic table... I really need to get one of those!
Typical Adrienne- always making us laugh.
The view. Couldn't see the symphony, but they sounded amazing!
Our spread of goodness. This is my kind of meal!
All the ladies... me, Mere, Adrienne, Suz & Amy.
Sunday morning we had breakfast at Julius Meinl, a Austrian coffee house that brought back memories of our trip last year. All in all it was a relaxing weekend filled with fun, food and good conversations. I'm thinking we'll have to make this an annual tradition!
