New Abode

We found a new place to call home! 

While our house was on the market we would casually drop by open houses to see what was out there.  Nothing really jumped out at us that was in the right location and price range.  Once our current home sold, we wanted to get going pretty quickly in hopes of getting the tax credit (that expires on April 30th) and to avoid moving twice. A few weeks ago we spent an entire Saturday looking at a dozen houses.  It was exhausting, but we quickly narrowed it down to two houses.  This house, as we refer to as Lincoln, surprised both of us.  The pictures online didn't do it justice.  Lincoln is 98 years old, which brings about both pros and cons.  There was just a feeling about the neighborhood and house that felt right to us.  After that, we started comparing every house we saw to Lincoln. 

So we put in an offer!  Unfortunately, the negotiation side of things were a little convoluted and stressful.  Steve was supposed to have a business trip in Switzerland on the 17th and the current owners were a little difficult and slow to respond.  Believe it or not, the Iceland volcano eruption was a blessing in disguise.  Our trip was cancelled and were able to finalize the house deal and inspection last week. 

We close at the end of June and are looking forward to making it our home sweet home.  Here's a little sneak preview of our new abode, meet Lincoln... 

I love the picket fence, but we're thinking it would look much better painted white.

The current owners put in a patio and some beautiful landscaping.  And there's a perfect area for me to have a little garden! 

The front porch was also a huge selling point for me. I can't wait to relax on summer nights without mosquitos attacking me.

This house has a great open floor plan. 

On the other side of the living room area is the dining room and kitchen.

Here's a closer look at the kitchen.  One of our first items of business is to paint and put in a new backsplash.

And I was ecstatic the bathroom has a clawfoot tub.  I can't wait to try that thing out!
